Finally away we go, BUT! We are not staying at the Shepheards hotel as itinerary states. It is the Movenpick Pyramids outside of the city by 30 mins. That 30 mins is actually about 45 mins by Cairo traffic standards.
But having said that, I ne
We were all so very tired and sopaced out, so spent some diwn time sorting ourselves out for a couple of hours after arriving at the hotel. …. Yes we can still see the pyramids from the main entrance of the hotel.
Went into the city for a browse around the famous Khan el Khalili market, mid afternoon, and had dinner at a lovely quaint restaurant Fellafel. I think we were all to tired to really appreciate it though.
Day 2 ( yes that is all it is)
Evening we dined aboard the Pharaohs Nile River restaurant, with belly dancer and whirling dervish. WOW! Amazing. The belly dancer I have come to know from bellydancer.net forum. The dancer was our very own Outi! She is beautiful. Loved the Iskandria dance.
A little later we were entertained by a young lady who was a local Egyptian girl who was dining with her family, she was absolutely gorgeous, she just got up to dance, and ala naturel she danced as one doees when you are raised to understand and to feel the music. Formal lessons are absolutely unnecessary under such circumstances. She has obviously danced from thee cradleJ
A tiny girl watched every dance so avidly, and one can see that being raised in the culture brings its rewards.
We will be visiting the pyramids, Memphis, Sakara & something else, I can’t remember at this time tomorroe (Friday). After being able to see so easily from the front entrance of the hotel, I am longing to see then.
We spent a good part of the day at the belly dance areaa market. I only purchased 4 hipscarves, a cane and a khaleegy dress. Bra & belts are not available ready made in my sizeL
I will write more soon and also more about the floating restuarant we to.
I am v ery tired, It is difficult to spend time doing things one wishes too when sharing a room besides the fact that Internet access is difficult so I am unable to connect too often. There are free wifi spots but this hotel Movenpick is quite some distance from the city, so the connections are not readily available. I will get online when I can….
Movenpick URL in case you want to see where we are staying.

Hopefully I will write more tomorrow or the next day. I will also try to upload some photos.
This is an amazing place! So much to tell you all, so little time to do it I am writing this in reception area at 11.27am Melbourne time, which is 2.27am in Cairo!
