Went to the Cairo musuem. the facade is very Greco-Roman showing the roman influence at the time the building was constructed. It is a huge place and one would need several days to see everything. A few hours does not do it justice. The king Tut room is glorious, such workmanship, it is no wonder it is under very high security. We had to pay extra to visit the human mummy section and there are quite a few well known Pharoah mummies as well as Hatshepsut the 'woman Pharoah. Hatshepsut is a fairly recent find. They are all is very good condition for 'their age'.
Old Cairo was the next stop, it is very Coptic Christian but quite beautiful, it seeems like you step back into the past, with its cobbleed rough streets and ancient buildings. So many narrow alleys it is quite intriguing. Thee Citidel where the beautiful Mosque sits atop of a hill is stunning. It is a huge complex and the mosaic work in the ceiling inside the mosque is glorious.
We had dinner on the Nile maximum river boat restuarant, and there was a belly dancer (Asmahan) ... she had a corny entrance, being carried into the restuarant in a big pink heart which is opened 'dramatically' and she steps out.
It was fun though. the whirling dervish dance performed by a male dancer was mind blowing he is fantastic. He never misses a step, he must have such strength of mind, anyone else would be dizzy in seconds and would fall in a heap and he danced ( or I should say spun while using discs to enhance his dance for at least 10 minutes, with each dance set.
